I'm inclined to think Polly-Ester or another string of starlets.

I guessed Tocopheryl acetate was an ester and not as bad as glycerol, but here it is:

Tocopheryl acetate, also known as vitamin E acetate, is a common vitamin supplement with the molecular formula C31H52O3 (for 'á' form). It is the ester of acetic acid and tocopherol (vitamin E). It is often used in dermatological products such as skin creams.  (wikipedia)

Carbomer, a thickening agent and polymer of acrylic acid,  is probably more hydrophilic than glycerine, but there likely isn't much of it in Purell.
Good for cosmetics, not fot PWB's.
