Hi Roger - there are three elements that have been shown to form
whiskers:
cadmium, zinc and tin. Tin is the most famous but there are numerous
cases
of both zinc and cadmium whiskers too. Check out the NASA Goddard
whisker
website for examples of each.

Dave,

I've been around plating a lot, especially zinc and I never heard of
zinc
whisker formation. Are you sure you don't mean tin whisker

formation?

If you really do mean zinc please direct me to some information about
it.
It's never too late in life to learn something new.

Sincerely,

Roger Mouton
