Hi,

Volume defined by dollars, number of PCBs produced, or the number of jobs
run?

At AAPCB we are small, less than 1/10 of $250M but we receive, setup and
run over 10 jobs a day at times. (That is 10 different customers each with a
different PCB with different parts.)

But we are designed from the bottom up for protos and small runs. Anything
else is low margin.

Your categories sound incredibly high to me. 2006 Consumer electronics was
about $130B. Estimate that assembly represents 5% of this or about $6B
dollars. My guess it is well spread out, at only 1000 assembly locations the
average is only $6M per year. I would expect most large plants to be under
100M.

Also, see below, you might ask who much they make. Now remember
Flextronics is the biggest and they do a lot more than just assembly boards.

Subject: [TN] Contract Manufacturer Levels

Dear 'Netters,

What would be appropriate annual business volumes to define Tier 1, Tier
2, and Tier 3 contract manufacturers. I'm being asked by our new
management team and want to be reasonably accurate. I've always used up
to $250M as 3, up to $1B as 2, and above $1B as 1, but can't remember
where I got those numbers.

Thanks in advance,

Bob Croslin
