Juan,

To qualify a cleaning process, depending on your requirements, I would suggest:

1. Visual cleanliness

2. Ionic contamination levels (Ionograph, omegameter, or equivalent)

3. Ion Chromatography - to determine the types of ionic contamination and their levels.

While there is no formal guide to certify a cleanliness process, these are the types of tests I used to qualify my processes in an aerospace environment.

I echo Joe's sentiments about checking the equipment and chemistry. I would also check for material compatibility. Some cleaning chemistries are more aggressive than others and could pose a danger to specific components and materials.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

Subject: [TN] Cleaning equipment validation.

Hi,

We are going to change our cleaning equipment and I would like to know if
there is a guide -or what tests can be carried out- to validate a new cleaning
equipment.

We are using rosin fluxes for Class 3 products.

Thank you in advance for your help.
