Phil, have you studied the list of precaution for 'fusing' resistors, as
some metal oxide resistors are called? Example:

not to be used if you have strong electromagnetic fields nearby (induction
in spiral metal film )
not to be used in case of high electrostatic fields
not to be used too close to other heat generating components (metal film
resistors generate intense spot heat and need good cooling)
not to be used for high puls current without derating
there is more to say, but I couldn't remember what at the moment. John
Maxwell may have more to say, grandson to great Maxwell , he will know well
about maximums ...he-he

/Inge

Subject: [TN] PTH resistors arcing to LPI covered etch

Good afternoon,

We have been experiencing some issues with the end of metal film PTH
resistors arcing through the LPI solder mask to the etch. Is this something
others have seen? Short of applying Kapton under the resistor, lifting the
resistor up or completely rerouting the etch, has anyone found another
solution?

Thanks in advance.

Phil
