I have a factory in China, and this is an issue that needs to be
controlled. We have tamperproof everything, seems we could have some
type of coding and/or packaging to ensure integrity of parts.

Heck even using the counterfeit measures of the CC companies would be
starting point.

Just my .2 jiao

Good point Wayne. I was zeroing in on the line that says "HC 14 x 7".
I was thinking that before those letters that perhaps the information
there had been obliterated on purpose.

Anybody from Fairchild on TechNet?

Hi Dave!

Yes, it is common on PDIPS to have redundant pin 1 marks on the package.

As to Bev's comment, I thought the "FSC" on the die indicated "Fairchild
Semiconductor Corporation". Do they have a different logo?

It's been awhile so I don't recall. Is it standard to have both "pin 1"
identifiers on one chip? It has the notch on the left side as well as a
dimple over pin #1. I hope this isn't one of those stupid questions.

But Steve,
There is no remark inside by Fairchild. And if they realized it at the
die stage, there would be no need to redo the outside. My bet is they
are counterfeits.

Hi Wayne!

Got your pictures posted, they are here:

It could be that they really aren't counterfeit, but got somehow
mis-marked by Fairchild and then re-marked to fix it. But if it is
indeed counterfeit, you'd be surprised at what is of value to those that
have labor costs at next to nothing...
