I think the best way justify the trip is to define a problem or opportunity and
then find out what at APEX will address that problem or opportunity.
Here are a few approaches.
Quality, Reliability, Process, Standards: If you have technical issue to be
resolved then you can
meet the movers and shaker in the industry, one on one at
APEX.
Sales and Marketing: If you have customers attending the conference so you can
meet, one on one in a neutral environment.
You as an Expert: The best way to get to go is to write a paper and present it
at APEX. If you have to, team up with another expert and co-author the paper.
Capitol Purchases: You can justify APEX is visit venders to review capitol
equipment.
Volunteer Work: Join a committee as an active and influential member.
Educational Improvement: Signup for a course that is only given at APEX.
Celebrity Voyeurism: Then of course there is always meet the expert (Weiner,
Dewey etc.) live in 'Vegas.

I am trying, for the 1st time, to convince my co. to send me. I have never
been. I feel there is value in going but it is difficult to quantify.
There is resistance, primarily to the travel costs. There has to be some clear
benefit to going there, over top of local learning opportunities, and I am being
encouraged to look for classes at the local university and tech schools to =0
A'better myself', rather than looking to be sent to Vegas.
Any help you can give me to quantify the benefits of Apex?Genny
