I just received the lab results from our conformal coater de-wetting
problem. It seems as though they were able to pull off less then 1ng of
Diethylene glycol monoethylether acetate from the boards that were not
populated. The boards that were populated had almost no chromatographic
evidence of glycol present. All samples showed fragment ions of Diethylene
glycol monoethylether acetate. I know that glycol and coating don't mix, but
I would like to think that 1ng isn't enough to cause the magnitude of
de-wetting that we were seeing. As the carrier agent flashes off the board
can it, the carrier agent, carry some of the glycol with it reducing the
amount present on the assembly?

Inge,
If you are asking about wetting of the solder joints, they are
wetting fine. We are pretty sure this is a contaminant of some sort we are
just having a difficult time pinning it down. Until we can get the lab
results back we have to make sure we continue to explore any and all
possibilities.
