Hi Bev - hey, Bismuth and Lead shell lines overlap each other in the 

0-10kV range but are distinctly separate in the 10-20kV range. Which range 

did you use? Could you have a case of mistaken identity?

[TN] Weird one - bismuth in overmold













TechNetters,

In checking a component for one thing or another we found via SEM/EDX

particles of bismuth in the overmold.  Smaller amounts of bromine were

also found in the same spots but the largest signal by far was due to

Bi.  I have never seen or heard of such a thing before.  Can anyone shed

any light on this before I go to the component vendor?
