Thanks for your kind recommendation Bob

Hi John

For your specific questions the 3rd edition addendum, which has an updated
chapter of flex assembly which was graciously attended to and very nicely
executed by Bob, is likely best for your present interest.

Happy's book is available at:

www.hdihandbook.com

There is as well another free book that should be of interest by Steve
Williams of Plexus

Best wishes,
Joe

If you download a copy of Joe Fjelstad's latest book Flexible Circuit
Technology after you do a Google search it features a section on flexible
assembly and a number of pallet option images.

Just like the HDI book by Happy its free and should be on everyone book
shelf.

Many thanks

Subject: [TN] Flex Carrier?

We are a fab shop and on occasion we are asked by our CEM customers to
design carriers for boards they have received from other vendors or directly
from customers without the appropriate framework.

Today we received a request to design carriers for the following flex
designs;

1. 0.005" thick, 3" x 3.5" 4-up array with 01005 components
2. 0.003" thick, 5" x 2" 8-up array with 0201 components

Now I doubt my ability to produce anything useful for these but you never
know. At the very least, for my own knowledge, how does one go about
transporting these through printing, placement and reflow? Are there
special universal carriers available? Any suggestions or photo's of
something I can whip together for our customer?

Regards

John Parsons
