Hi Ioan!

We used to have a board shop right across the street where I could go and get some mask, but alas they closed the doors a couple of years ago after being in business over thirty years.

But we use now to repair soldermask is a loctite two-part epoxy mixed with coloring agents to match the mask on the board.

The epoxy is:

http://tds.loctite.com/tds5/docs/HYSA0151-EN.PDF

And the coloring agents can be had here:

http://www.circuitmedic.com/products/115-9000.shtml

We also use the epoxy for minor base board repair and gluing pads down. I like the -0151 because it doesn't wick all over the place while curing and stays pretty much where you put it. One thing about the coloring agents if you haven't used them before, is a little goes a L-O-N-G way! It doesn't take much at all to get the shade of color you need.

Steve

Subject: [TN] Repair soldermask

Hello Technos,

What kind of soldermask do you use for repair jobs under BGAs? You know, the original SM goes away when wicking the pads after BGA removal and we need to cover the vias back. And I'm talking lead-free.

Thank you,
