Bob and others ,
a friend recommended to keep an eye on this list, if your antivirus program
gives a name on a bad file. He
was of the opinion that information about the nature of a specific virus can
help you to do extras that the
antivirus program does not, e.g. open the registers and remove files
manually.
He meant 'know your enemy'. Well, I'm not so sure myself. Unfortunately I
don't have all that time for
'knowing the enemy' and the few times I've been in DOS for cleaning up, it
has most of the times
lead to nothing at all . Furthermore, he recommended me to strip XP and only
use necessary software only.
He mentioned that you can remove 25% of the program without any important
loss, but you get a superfast
and reliable computer.
Hmmm...there are hundreds of thousands of files....seems impossible to me, a
non-hacker, to make success
that way. I hope instead that my antivirus program takes care of that.
Inge
