A good understanding of Hansen Solubility Parameters would help resolve many
of this discussions. Ken Dishart provided an excellent presentation on this
topic for those who made it to the IPC-SMTA Cleaning Symposium in late October
in Chicago. One of his examples was rosin flux residue removal, using Alpha
611F (RMA in the MIL system) flux to generate the oven simulated post-solder
rosin flux residue.
Copies of the final presentation versions of all the symposium talks on a CD
should still be available from IPC or SMTA (I don't know the cost); suggest
contacting IPC's Jean Hebeisen at 847-597-2838 or fax her a P.O. at
847-615-5638.
