We use an ERSA PL550/IR550. The IR reflow part works well with BGA's
and ok for QFP's and SO type parts. I do not like the placement part as
it has too much play in the placement nozzle to get good placement on
very fine pitch components.

Yes the focused IR type gives the best performances for BGA components.

Subject: [TN] BGA Workstations

Technetters,

We are shopping for a anew and improved BGA workstation. First of all it

would be great if I could get some recommendations what you have
purchased recently and why. In addition, I was hoping someone could give

us some real world pro's and con's with respect to the focused IR type
of workstation.

Thank you!
