Doesn't sound as a microwave board, but rather like a mixed signal MHz  FR4 
one. In that case, you will not likely get discontinuities and signal 
deformations (rise, fall,delay etc). You probably got a correct advice. If 
you have a faster signal board, one can not give advice other than seeing 
the trace layout. TN got many experienced uwave gurus.
By the way, I use the below thumb rule chart. It's not much of a help for a 
true microwave design engineer, but very good for us with only part of nose 
in the waveguide world..
