TechNetters, our QA lab gets A and B coupons from PCB panels using a flat-face punch and die, dimensions are (apologies for the antiquated units, but that's what the machine shop uses) 7/16 inch x ¾ inch. We want to have a recessed punch. The machine shop can make one from the existing flat-face. How thick should the walls of the punch be, and how deep? We have a manual punch press, so there is a practical limit on board thickness. Buehler makes a punch and die, but I'd rather not buy a new set, especially because it would not fit our press, if we can modify what we already have.
On a related topic, can you punch a coupon from a Teflon PCB? My uninformed belief is that you can, but others tell me 'no' or 'I don't know'. Thanks for any help.
