I saw an interesting wave solder machine developed by OSL in France in the
'80s that may be of help here. The jaws of the solder wave were connected by a
chain drive to the conveyor speed setting. Thus as the conveyor speed was
increased, the jaws of the wave opened wider, so the optimum contact time of the
parts to be soldered with the solder wave was maintained.
Has anyone else seen such a solder wave/conveyor speed interconnect? If so,
what has been the experience with lead-free solders?
