I have worked with the Direct FET from Intl Rectifier for both cleaned
samples and not cleaned and with the 4-5 mil standoff they have worked very well.
Cleaning by water only is difficult but can be done with long contact times,
but cleaning with saponifier has been run effectively at 3-4 ft/min. The
increase standoff height have worked well to allow for proper venting of the
flux residues leaving the residue benign and protective. The Direct FET is a
better performer due to flux residues than the QFN components.
Call if you would like to discuss the issue further.

Is anyone out there using these? While attractive from a design and
performance standpoint, it seems like it would be a cleaning nightmare
whether using water soluble or RMA.
