The gold would likely be masked with hi-temp tape (or other method if
available), then board would go through HASL process. Otherwise, gold
plated would be non-existent and HASL solder bath would become
contaminated with gold.
Are the areas to be gold-plated edge-card fingers, switch contacts, or
something similar? Likely reflects an attempt at cost-savings by
minimizing gold use.

I am confused.
i have some chart which shows block of gold plating then HASL/HAL.
i am trying to understand if it is by mistake showing HASL after Gold
Plating ?
or some Fabricator actually using HASL/HAL Process after Gold plating
Process ? if yes why did they required to do that ?
