Usually acetone is one chemical that might reveal and even may show up
in high magnification what is under the blacktop.  We have had that same
issue more than once. One letter could make it looked like an industrial
or faster speed in processing data on some IC. If that is what you have
then that is fraud.  Jon

Good morning,

We have some ICs that appear to have been blacktopped. (Steve G. -
thanks for the excellent link in July).

Now the question is why - what is covered up?  Our concern is that
commercial grade is being identified as industrial.  

Is there a method for looking under the blacktop to determine what was
there before the cover-up?
