We use "Sanford Sharpie(r) 13801 (Black) Industrial Super Permanent"
marking pen from Office Depot Business Services Division catalog, item
#498-626 & the mfr# is SAN13801. This is usually a special order &
requires buying by the box - it isn't your typical Sharpie used for
marking cardboard boxes or touch-up of scratches in paint, not that
anyone does that . . .

When used toward the end of an assembly process, it holds up to a single
wash & is still legible. If we use it for marking s/n and/or revs at
the beginning of an assembly op we still place polyimide tape over it.
It should stand up to isopropyl alcohol but rubbing acetone on it will
take it off.

If you find better, please let us know.

Subject: [TN] Marking Question

We have some assemblies that have to go through an alcohol scrub per a
customer request. We mark information on the tab-route areas such as
operator initials, test complete, etc. We use a Sharpie for marking but
it's
coming off in the alcohol.

Do any of you know of a good and easy marking pen that will stay on
through
the wash (the mark, not the pen :-)

Thanks,

KennyB
