Sharpie makes an "Industrial" version that I have used.  It is claimed to stay on even through 500° F steam and most solvents.  An alternative is some of the paint pens.  The brand escapes me right now, but there are at least two major name manufacturers that make a pen with paint or epoxy ink.

We have some assemblies that have to go through an alcohol scrub per a
customer request. We mark information on the tab-route areas such as
operator initials, test complete, etc. We use a Sharpie for marking but it's
coming off in the alcohol.

Do any of you know of a good and easy marking pen that will stay on through
the wash (the mark, not the pen :-)
