Thanks to Bill for the comments on Breakfast, the best ever solder finish
with a unique benefit was developed for cooking equipment, particularly for
woks.

The finish offered by Panasonic on single sided boards was cockroach
repellent.

Now there is a good one to liven up your next solder finishes seminar, it
features in my Basic PCB Manufacture Workshop and always gets a laugh.

Hi, Bob
Dave stated he was looking for a flat finish, thus his desire to move to
ENIG. We were simply pointing out that an IAg flat finish is more often
preferable than ENIG.

There have been many comments on this subject but few asking why move
away from HASL or do you not want to use tin/lead or lead-free HASL?

There are lots of high end users that have found good PCB shops who are
able to provide a good repeatable surface finish. Its key to work with
your supplier and lead-free works well for solderability and assembly
yields.

Subject: [TN] ENIG White paper

Dear Technetters,

I am trying to locate a white paper on the pluses and minuses of ENIG
that I think was circulated through the IPC. Can anyone point me to that
document? We are considering changing from HASL to ENIG for our SMT
designs and want to see what we should look for or anticipate.
Thanks,
Dave Connitt
