As suggested I am forwarding this to the TechNet group for their information knowledgebase.

Subject: RE: [TN] Compatibility of Lead-Free alloys

Phil,

The answer is the usual, "It depends!" Actually there is not much
PUBLICLY available data on this that I know of, however, the NASA-DOD
Lead-free Electronics Project, aka JG-PP Project 2, is looking at some
of these Lead-free alloy rework compatibility issues. This data, once
collected and analyzed, will be publicly available. Currently the
project is in the final stages of test vehicle fabrication. Then the
rework will need to be performed (estimated to be completed by the
middle of October) and then the testing conducted (estimated to be
started before the end of the calendar year). If you want more
information about the project you can find it at the following website
link:
http://www.acqp2.nasa.gov/projects/NASA_DODLeadFreeElectronics_Proj2.htm
l which gives the project coordinator's, Kurt Kessel, contact
information.

Although I receive the TN posting I cannot reply, so feel free to
forward my reply to TN.

Thank you,

Subject: [TN] Compatibility of Lead-Free alloys Auto forwarded by a Rule

Hi all,

In a discussion today the question came up "Is there an issue with using
one lead-free alloy to build a board and a different lead-free alloy to
rework the same board?"

I was under the impression that most lead-free alloys were compatible
with each other with maybe the exception of the ones with bismuth.

I know there are reams of data about tin/lead mixed with lead-free, but
what about SN100C with SAC305 or SN995e?
