It not uncommon that your supplier wants to change to higher Tg material. It really is not for the reasons you think. Higher Tg materials give you a larger reflow processing window, better for higher temperatures and multiple thermal excursions. If moisture is eliminated during processing. Lower Tg will process successfully as well if moisture is eliminated during processing. Most PCB manufactures want to use only one Tg material as it is becoming more standard, more laminate manufactures want to standardize their resin systems to eliminate down time for change over's. Some laminate manufacturers only supply high Tg FR4. When you evaluate the inventory cost, and benefits of processing one Tg material, it makes good business sense.Scott B.
