Good morning Susy,

We do not accept X-out boards in our arrays. We found that it slows down
our in-house assembly too much. We also pay a premium for this.

I have worked at companies that do accept X-outs from a 10-25% rate.
Thanks!

Respectfully,

Subject: X-OUTS

Hi All,

We are having an issue at our company that I would like feedback on.

Our boards are smallish and arrive from the fabricator in an assembly array
panel. Long ago, my company's specification document stated that we would
only accept 100% good boards on these arrays (i.e. no x-outs) from the
fabricator. The issue apparently has not been addressed (here) since that
document was written. We have in-house assembly, so I was unaware of the
issue until a fabricator brought it up to me. We are now looking into it and
realizing that we are paying more for boards done this way and we may be
able to allow 10%+ in X-outs on these arrays. (We know how to automate the
process at assembly.) My question is, what is "normal" as far as the way
others do things? Does your company accept X-outs and if so, what percentage
do you allow.

Thanks for any thoughts.
Susy
