Lenny,

Have you considered using a routed slot with "mouse bites" in place of v-scoring. IPC-7351A, Figure 3.23 can give you some ideas. In looking closely at the illustrations there are some differences in the dimensions. I'm working on clarifying this spec for our internal use as we are switching all our SMT work to routed panels away from v-score.

Subject: [TN] Measuring Scores?

How does the rest of the world measure scores on pcbs? We order pcbs in one of 3 different thicknesses: .031", .047" or .062" thick. We typically spec our scores to be to a .012" +/- .004" web thickness. We have had arrays come in flimsy, and even been able to see light through the scores, causing the assemblies to nearly fall apart, and other times we have received them underscored and are difficult to separate.
We have no tools to measure other than verniers (and that doesnt work) How do you folks measure scores on similar pcbs?
thanks, Lenny Carter. ERG, Inc. www.ergpower.com
