SMART Group have been running workshops on Component Counterfeiting in the
UK as part theory part hands on testing which is fun. Certainly we are
seeing more of this issue with members.
http://www.smartgroup.org/pdf/contcomponents.pdf

Have put together a check list that may be of interest, the idea is to
collect and have available reference data for future comparison of suspect
parts. Makes visual examination, FA and x-ray analysis simpler. Any
suggestions to add to it are very welcome.

Subject: [TN] Countefeit Components

Afternoon all,

We were forwarded a *.pdf file from one of our customers today that I
thought would be good to share with you all if you haven't already seen
it. It's from a company called the American Electronic Resource about
how to identify counterfeit components. At the end of the document it
had a link to go to for the same information, so here it is:

http://www.aeri.com/counterfeits.html

I thought it was pretty informative...

Steve
