A purchasing lament "The price was great ... we just couldn't afford the
cost!"

There are three variables in purchasing circuit boards; good pricing,
high quality, and timely delivery. The customer gets to pick and set any
two of the three variables. The third is set by the supplier, based on
the requirements of the first two.

If you are aggressive on price and delivery then often you get "get 'er
done" quality from an "it ain't my problem" supplier.

All I can say is that, contrary to popular belief, PCBs are not
commodity items.
