Phil
I have been effectively cleaning diesel fuel carbon dust and oils off a
urethane coated assemblies with a saponifier (3% heated to 125 C) cleaning in a
low pressure (25 psi flood nozzle system) in a Tsunami batch cleaning system
with minimal or no damage to the coating surface. We have used different MEA
based cleaners very effectively at lower concentrations. Call me off line if
you are interested in more details.

Subject: Re: [TN] Washing dirty conformally coated boards

I would remove the coating with a mild solvent, such as a HCFC/HFC/HFE
blend, preferably in a vapour phase machine and recoat.

when returned from the field need to be washed to remove the graphite/carbon

tends to peel the conformal coating off. The currently process is hand washing
and rinsing, but it is a totally uncontrolled process.

likely to remove the coating. I just want to get the dusty stuff off the
board. It looks I'm going to have to create a machine or controlled process
the works at room temperature.
