First, if possible, I would not use sockets; they add un-reliability to the 
circuit and I can cite numerous problems we have had using sockets.  We 
learned our lesson the hard way and now prohibit the use of sockets for most 
applications.  Also, I would avoid conformal coating over sockets after the 
parts are installed.  It is difficult to mask sufficiently to guarantee that 
no conformal coating material will wind up in the socket contact area where 
it may cause intermittent electrical circuit.  We have had problems where 
socketed parts were conformal coated; resulting in intermittent electrical 
circuit.
