We had blacklight bulbs in the spray room and under the booth/hood to
aid the sprayer with coverage checking. The intensity wasn't high
enough to cure overspray very quickly, but would cure it over several
hours. If you make pallets that fit in you UV oven then you could cure
both at the same time and not have to handle a wet board directly. You
can cover a reusable pallet with paper or even have them cut out of
corrugated cardboard if you want to throw them away.

How about a hanging blacklight? I bought some standard sized bulbs to
fit a
shop fluorescent light fixture a while back. They used to be readily
available at your neighborhood big box home improvement store. You
could
hang it in a vented fume hood in an isolated area to cure and vent any
fumes.
Or you could get your hands on a tanning bed and provide tanning as an
employee perk when you're not curing your coating waste!

Hi Amol,
We don't use UV coating so it's not an issue but I was wondering if you
could put the paper out in the sun for a little bit. Of course here in
Western Washington that would be a problem since we never get any sun
;-)

Subject: [TN] Conformal Coating Waste
Dear Technetters,
We regularly use absorbent paper to rest the boards in the conformal
coating
booth as we spray them (UV cure coatings). A question came up recently
about
the paper being hazardous waste due to uncured coating on it. I want to
know
if:
1. Anybody else is using a similar method to coat the boards and how is
disposal being handled
2. Is there an alternative to using paper in the coating booth. The
disposal
issue will still remain
I do not want to put the paper in the UV oven for curing.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Amol
