Hi Rudy

You are right to distinguish between inventions and patents and to point out
that patents will not preempt IP theft, they just grant right to prosecute
when it happens which is great for lawyers. In fact in your business,
proprietary knowledge and trade secrets are likely to be a better path. However, when
patenting any invention, it is a requirement and a contractual element of
the patent, if you will, in exchange for the limited term monopoly, that one
much teach so that the reader, presumably one of "ordinary skill in the art"
can practice the invention, at least to some degree from those teachings. There
are lots of nuances in formulations in quantities and the process of mixing
that can make all the difference, as you well know, and that can, and often
does, spell the difference between success and failure.

All that aside, are not MSDSs a worry of at least some measure in your
business?

Cheers,
Joe
