Hi Joe! Everyone's thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. The flood
waters are predicted to crest today at 31 feet above flood stage which has
provided a new meaning to the term "500 year" flood. Only the two
interstate bridges (Interstate 380 and Interstate 20) are the only means
of crossing the Cedar River for 70 miles. The biggest immediate concern is
protecting the remaining city water well from the flood water - Cedar
Rapids has 4 primary water producing wells and we have lost 3 of them to
the flood waters. Our Rockwell Collin's facilities are not in directly
impacted by the flood waters but many of us have been sandbagging our
brains out and assisting friends impacted by the rising waters. Thanks
again for the kind thoughts and this is one case where Doug's "it depends"
can't be used - we'll get through this flood and be in good shape after a
long clean up effort.
