CBS radio news this morning said it's a failed "pump" and that the replacement part is on its way from Russia to be carried on this Saturday's shuttle launch. They said it's coming in a diplomatic pouch. I'll leave it to the punsters on this forum to expand on the irony of state department diplomats carrying toilet parts...

I believe you hit the nail on the head, the British it is. I thought somewhere I heard that the toilet was made by Lights Out Lucas, perhaps with some of the leftover electronics from my 1960 Sunbeam Alpine ;-)

I'm betting they just forgot to bring along a $12,000.00 plunger is all, or, the British provided the toilet system and made it coin operated, and they ran out of change...
