Fortunately, we are protected from the massive rises in Europe, to some
extent, by the fact that the dollar is so weak, compared with the Euro.
In addition, fuel is heavily taxed so that the price at the pump has not
increased proportionally so much as in the USA. Of course, this does not
stop truck drivers etc. from complaining, as if that was going to
achieve anything. Since 1 January, 95 octane fuel has increased from
¤0.99 to ¤1.10 per litre, 11%, and ours is among the least heavily taxed
so probably has a bigger per cent increase than most of continental Europe.
