We have been successful cleaning the OSP with a hundred percent recovery using EnviroSense EnviroGold 816 saponifier. If you only have 30 I would be happy to clean them at no cost thru our Aquastorm 200 if you would like to.

Subject: [TN] Cleaning of OSP Oxidation

Folks,

I have about 30 OSP boards that have been processed on the bottom side,

were stashed away or misplaced for 6 to 9 months, and recently brought

to me for permission to process on the top side.

Most of these appear to have varying degrees of oxidation, as the

original light orange copper appearance has begun to look more like a 5

year old penny.

Is there a way to salvage this product?

Not only will they get the more complex components (appx. 70% of

assembly cost) during top side build, but they must also undergo wave

soldering of a 132 pin connector and several through-hole power

transistors.

I feel quite uncomfortable with doing anything other than trashing the

product...

Thanks,

Leland Woodall
