That's an easy one. Lead free has no lead and an RoHS compliant one has no lead, cadmium, mercury, Cr(VI) or the two families of brominated fire retardants - above the amounts set by the EU for each homogeneous material that is mechanically separable. However, being lead free or RoHS compliant does not mean that the component is lead free PROCESS compliant!  Many connectors have never had a stitch of lead in them, but would be a melted pile of glop if you ran them through a reflow oven at 250C.

Could you tell me what the difference between Lead free component and RoHS compliant component is? And can we use lead free component for RoHS compliant products?
