Technetters, following up on my question yesterday about cleanliness in a layup area and at the risk of overstaying my welcome, here are some on cleanliness in imaging areas. We have a class 10,000 clean room for PCB fabrication, and test the air with a particle counter every Tuesday morning. Particle counts are well within spec and under control from a statistical perspective.

How important is it to wear booties? There have been suggestions that booties clog the filters and may be detrimental to cleanliness.

What other garb is recommended? We have dedicated knee-length lab coats and hair nets, but no beard covers.

How much of a problem is the presence of cardboard in such a clean room?

Thanks again for your expert comments.

On the subject of statistical process control in PCB manufacturing, if anyone wishes to do so, please contact me to exchange ideas.

Louis
