I don't know about NP-170D, but, I had a fabricator ask me to allow a
material substitution, too.
Vetec's material VT-47 for IS410.
This always makes me very nervous. The 2 data sheets are difficult for
me to compare because the parameters are stated in different ways. I am
not positive that I am comparing apples to apples. My fabricator told me
that Isola was requiring 2 weeks delivery for their materials. 
What gives?

Howdy tech-netters,  A while back we had a customer requesting FR4-06
pcb material and one of our pcb vendors asked to use their
manufacturer's equivalent NP-170R instead.  We approved it's use. 
Recently a customer said our assemblies are failing a smoke density
test.  One of our group members is suspecting the pcb material.

1)  Could pcb material be related?
2) Is NP-170R a valid replacement for FR4-06?
