We do not reflow lead-free here but if you are using no-clean I suppose
there is a remote possibility that some lead contaminated flux could some
how get onto a board. If you clean after reflow you should be getting
everything off the board.
On a more personal note; if we are worried about that amount of lead
contaminating our planet then I think we've gone way beyond what even the EU
Politicians had envisioned.
Heaven help me if my grandchild eats a circuit card from his cell phone that
I reflowed that has a nano-spec of residual flux that may have once upon
it's life evaporated from an 0402 solder joint containing that most
deadliest substance in the amount of 37% lead, oh horrors!

Subject: [TN] use of the same reflow oven for Pb-free and Sn Pb reflow
Folks,
Question - I believe that it is common practice to use the same forced
convection reflow oven to reflow Pb-free as well as SnPb boards in
today's world but I was wondering if anyone has experienced any issues
doing this as well as what safeguards should be implemented so Pb-free
flux residue deposited within an oven does not contaminate SnPb boards
(e.g. flux build-up in the oven could redeposit onto boards going
through the oven?). thanks again.
Best regards,
-Joe
