There is a huge variety of materials that can be used. The most common
one is Durostone (with an o) CAS761, used for making wave solder and
reflow fixtures. DMI Pallet has a new material we have been using, and
it has held up to several hundred excursions through both reflow and
wave solder. It is called HC300 and is a polyester resin that withstands
all fluxes used in the industry. Great stuff.

Subject: Re: [TN] Need recommended material for a wave profiling pallet

Phil,

There are several manufacturers of this type of material, static
dissipative FRP. They are fairly expensive.

The manufacturer's I know of are:

Mfr: Permali
Mat'l: Durostone CAS761, Durostone CAG762

Mfr: Norplex Micarta
Mat'l: Wavemax 5000

Mfr: Vonn-Roll Isola
Mat'l: Durapol IGM-L200, Delmat CDM ESD 68940, Delmat DM ESD 68610

Most of these are sold through distribution only. I would contact the
MFRs for data-sheets and distributors near you.

However, I found that unless you buy standard sheet sizes, you pay even
more. When I was looking at buying direct to machine internally, prices
ranged from $100 / sq-ft all the way to $310 / sq-ft, which didn't make
it very cost effective. In my opinion, it is a much better deal to use
a tooling fab shop, such as the one Rich provided to you. There are
others also.

Subject: [TN] Need recommended material for a wave profiling pallet

Good morning,

I have a profiler that I want to mount in/on a panel I can use
repeatedly in my wave solder machine. I've seen a white material, at
ACI in Philadelphia, used for other types of soldering pallets, but I
have no information on the material. Hopefully the material can be
easily machined without special equipment or tools.

Can someone point me to this material?

Thanks in advance.
