Hi Jack! Let me put a different spin on what your associate read - You
should NEVER put anything in the bag containing a pwb with a ImAg surface
finish unless you know that the "anything" will not outgas/contaminate the
surface finish. We always specify silver saver paper which does a good job
of keeping outgassing/stuff away from the pwb. Some humidity indicators
and desiccant materials are safe to put in the bag - you just need to do
the homework. If you really want to see a reaction, put a rubberband in
the pwb bag - wonderful surface species evolve (sulfur creatures)! Good
Luck.

Subject
[TN] Immersion Silver and Desiccants

One of my associates read somewhere (on a datasheet) that
desiccants should NOT be packaged with immersion silver boards,
(and seems to be putting a huge significance on that discovery)

My response would be:
OK. take out the desiccants and put in humidity indicators.
case closed.

Is there something else I should know about this?

Jack (aka "the new guy")
