George,
If you are serious, send them along to me with a brief technical
description and I will get them in IPC-T-50. I may just put my name in
for "something else", because all the people that meet me and spend time
in conversation end up saying "you're something else" by the time we're
through.

That is exactly my point; none of the terms being used
Vladimir,

That is exactly my point; none of the terms being used for ENIG failures
such as "Black Pad", "Black Line Nickel", "Weak Nickel", "something
else", "Mud Cracking", "Dark Gray Pad", etc. are scientific definitions.

George

Hi Werner,

From all failures I've seen on ENIG including BP, Brittle Fracture and
something else (which does exist on ENIG but does not belong to either
of the two), I would say that they look pretty much the same as far as a
shade of black is concerned.

I agree with Dave. Introducing such "scientific" definitions :-) as grey
pad and so on, won't help :-)

Regards,

Vladimir

Hi Dave,
Shades of black, maybe.
Of course, not all 'Black Pad' failures have a black appearance, that is
why some peoble come up with things like 'Gray Pads' and 'ENIG Brittle
Fractures'
in apparent contrast to 'Black Pad'.
That is why George Wenger asked his question.

Werner
