Hi Werner,



From all failures I've seen on ENIG including BP, Brittle Fracture and something else (which does exist on ENIG but does not belong to either of the two), I would say that they look pretty much the same as far as a shade of black is concerned.



I agree with Dave. Introducing such "scientific" definitions :-) as grey pad and so on, won't help :-)

Shades of black, maybe.

Of course, not all 'Black Pad' failures have a black appearance, that is why 

some peoble come up with things like 'Gray Pads' and 'ENIG Brittle Fractures' 

in apparent contrast to 'Black Pad'.

That is why George Wenger asked his question.
