According to the pics you have 60 to 110 micro-inches of Ni, which while not
optimum does not allow Cu to diffuse through the Ni.
At the corner I see no evidence of IMCs or wetting—absent any other issues,
you may not have gotten enough heat up there [your pics are upside-down] for
wetting to take place.
