Then I am out of my depth on this one.  I checked the IPC Soldermask 
Handbook (IPC-HDBK-840), which is a pretty good text on solder mask, and 
there is no coverage of solder mask in medical or biomedical areas.  As I 
recall from the drafting process, we had no participation from that 
industry segment during the formation of HDBK-840, so it is not covered.

You might contact David Vaughan of Taiyo at [log in to unmask]  Dave 
chairs the IPC Solder Mask Task group and has forgotten more about solder 
mask than I will ever know.
