Re: [TN] twists per inch
sure is! While I am not expert, I have installed many networks over the
years and the twists can be very important from one set of wires to
another
to cancel out cross-talk as well as other things (attenuation, frequency)
Not knowing what kind of cabling you are talking about or (more
importantly-
what you are doing with the cabling)- all I can say is yes- there are
different twist rate standards in twisted pair cabling. I dont know them,
but I am sure the are out there. For example- remove the outer sheathing
on
common cat5, cat5e, or cat6 network cabling and you will see different
twist
rates between the pairs. doing a quick look- here's a site that happens
to
show the different twist rates between the inside 4 pairs in one cat5
cable.
http://www.jimhayes.com/uncleted/cables.html
See the color pic showing the 4 pairs? - If you look closely- there are 4
different twist rates- one for each pair so they dont crosstalk between
them.

Subject: [TN] twists per inch
Is there any standard on the number of twists per inch for twisted pair
wire?
Thanks in advance.
