Is there an IPC specification that says what the reference designation
should be for connectors mounted on a printed circuit board. I have
always used J's for receptacle pins and P's for plug pins. It was
pointed out to me today that IEEE Std 315-1975 says that jacks or
receptacles are stationary and thus all connectors should be a J ref
designation regardless of male or female pins. Any help would be
appreciated.
