Dear Technetters,

During production of the XXXX boards, we found that that the inner tracks
were getting opened(discontinuity) and nearly 50% of the boards were failing
during the testing.

On further analysis we found that the copper thickness of the inner layers
were less when compared to the outer layers. On confirmation with PCB
supplier we found that the Finish Cu thickness was maintained at 70/35/35/70
micron whereas our gerbers sent to supplier calls for 70/70/70/70 micron.

The issue was discussed with our customer and they informed that they cannot
accept the boards since they are using the boards for a high power
applications(2.5KVA) and the tracks cannot withstand this kind of voltage
which will cause field failures.

Please find the below information of the PCBs and the PCBAs which has to be
scrapped because of this.

Assembled 50nos

Assembled 110nos

We and our customer are now in a very desparate situation and we need to
turn up ASAP. Now the details are as follows:

Process: ROHS
Usage: UPS
No. of layers: 4

How do I salvage the assembled boards?

Thanx
Badri

Thanks&Regards,

Dinesh
